The Guirado Estate
Catalina Guirado is President of the Guirado Art Estate, dedicated to preserving and advancing the legacy of her father, internationally acclaimed Spanish-Australian painter Juan Antonio Guirado of Jaén, Andalucía.
Following his passing in 2010, Catalina assumed stewardship of the estate, leading a long-term initiative to reestablish his position within Spanish art history and the international contemporary art landscape.
Global Repositioning of a Spanish Master
Over the past 15 years, Catalina has worked with an international network of curators, galleries, and cultural institutions to reposition the Guirado Estate globally.
Through curated exhibitions, museum collaborations, and strategic partnerships, she has reintroduced Guirado’s work to new audiences across Europe and the United States—bridging classical Spanish art with contemporary cultural relevance.
A defining milestone came in 2017, when she presented his work at the Coral Gables Museum during Art Basel Miami. In collaboration with FLOAT VR, his metaphysical paintings were transformed into a meditative virtual reality experience, merging fine art with immersive digital technology.
Institutional Recognition & Spanish Art History
In 2018, Catalina produced a major exhibition in partnership with the University of Jaén, honoring her father as a maestro of the region and reinforcing his cultural significance within Andalucía.
This included his induction into the Cesáreo Rodríguez-Aguilera Foundation alongside Spanish masters such as Picasso, Miró, and Tàpies—solidifying his place within Spain’s artistic canon and contemporary art discourse.
