Guirado Estate & Foundation

Catalina Guirado is the president of the Guirado Art Estate, dedicated to continuing the legacy of her father, the internationally acclaimed Spanish-Australian painter from Jaén, Andalucía, Spain. Following his passing in 2010, Catalina, as the heir to the Guirado Estate, embarked on a mission to restore his name within the upper echelons of Spanish art history.

Over the past 12 years, she has worked alongside a team of professionals from around the globe to curate and oversee the estate's operations, organizing international art exhibitions in collaboration with museums, foundations, and galleries to reintroduce her father's work on a global scale. A landmark moment came in 2017 when she showcased his artwork at the Coral Gables Museum during Art Basel Miami, partnering with FLOAT VR to transform his spiritual paintings into a meditative virtual reality experience, engaging a contemporary audience.

In 2018, Catalina produced a significant exhibition with the University of Jaén, honoring her father as a maestro of the region and inducting him into the Cesario Rodriguez Aguilera Foundation alongside Spanish masters such as Picasso, Miró, and Tapies. This pivotal undertaking laid the groundwork for ensuring Guirado’s legacy endures, solidifying his rightful place in Spain’s rich artistic history and the mythology of Andalucía.

Catalina and the Guirado Estate have been featured in top publications including Vanity Fair, L'Officiel Art, ELLE, Marie Claire, Arte, AD magazine, and ABC Culture as well as television and radio interviews about her work to promote Spanish art. She has also been a guest speaker on Art Estate management and Art VR at Soho House. Partnered with Hix, Saachi, and The Los Angeles Art Assn. Foundation Pons, Coral Gables Museum, Patron Tequila, Hendrick’s Gin, Pernod Ricard, the Karma Sanctum, Roommates, and others.

The Guirado Estate

Juan Antonio Guirado's works are included in the permanent collections of prestigious institutions such as the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, The Museum of Malta, Museo Gilabert, and Arboles, among others. Throughout his career, he held over 50 solo exhibitions and 20 group shows. He won the Gold Medal at the Grolla D’rollo art competition in Venice in 1975. Following his passing in 2010, the Guirado Estate has organized successful exhibitions that affirm his status as an artist of international acclaim, including shows at the Coral Gables Museum in Miami (alongside Carlos Cruz-Diez) and the University of Jaén in 2018.

Guirado's inclusion in a UNED Mooc university course for Spanish-speaking students, launched in 2017, highlights the enduring relevance of his themes—spirituality, environmental issues, and politics—to contemporary audiences.

Recently curated into the Cesario Rodriguez-Aguilera Foundation at the University of Jaén, Guirado was featured alongside Spanish masters like Picasso, Miró, and Tapies in the exhibition "Parallel Visionaries." This exhibit, curated by art critic Laura Revuelta, is part of an educational program focused on Guirado's historical significance in Spanish art.
